Historic Indy cars and legendary drivers are bringing decades of motorsport history back to life this weekend at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca during the Mission Foods Grand Prix of Monterey.

A star-studded lineup featuring icons such as Bobby Rahal, Tony Kanaan, Bryan Herta, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Max Papis, Danny Sullivan, Dominic Dobson, and Zak Brown will get behind the wheel for a series of high-speed exhibitions.

The impressive collection spans over a century of engineering evolution, ranging from a vintage 1911 National Model 40 all the way to a modern 2022 Dallara DW12 among the 30 historic machines on display.

Organizers emphasize that the gathering offers fans a rare moving timeline of open-wheel racing, connecting legendary personalities and technological advancements with today's championship contenders.

Celebrating Monterey Open Wheel Legacy On Track

The Historic Indy car Exhibition serves as a vibrant celebration of Monterey's rich racing past, highlighting iconic moments like Rahal's four consecutive victories from 1984 to 1987.

Fans will also reminisce about Bryan Herta's back-to-back wins in the late nineties, Danny Sullivan's championship-clinching drive in 1988, and Max Papis" unforgettable charge from 25th on the grid to victory in 2001.

Track officials noted that enthusiasts now have the unique opportunity to experience motorsport history not just through photographs or videos, but live and at speed.

Spectators can catch the historic machinery and drivers in action across multiple scheduled sessions running through Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
