Frying oil fuel hacks have proven disastrous for a motorist in Besancon, France, who attempted to bypass high fuel prices by pouring kitchen oil into their diesel tank. The illegal shortcut resulted in a failed engine and a hefty 800 euro repair bill to replace damaged fuel injectors.
"For about twenty euros saved at the pump, you end up with, as on this car, two injectors to replace, that makes a bill of around 800 euros," said Charly Petitjean, owner of the Vulco garage, highlighting a growing trend of drivers turning to improvised fluids.
