Valtteri Bottas embarks on a new Formula One chapter with Cadillac for the 2026 season

Valtteri Bottas has cemented his status as one of the most resilient and accomplished drivers on the Formula One grid, bringing over a decade of elite experience to his new chapter with Cadillac. Born in Nastola, Finland, the Finn's motorsport journey began at the age of six after a chance encounter with a karting advertisement at a local supermarket. Through rigorous discipline, including mandatory military service in the Finnish Defence Forces Sports School, Bottas steadily climbed the European motorsport ladder before making his grand prix debut.

After dominating junior formulas such as the Formula Renault Eurocup and the GP3 Series, Bottas entered Formula One as a test driver for Williams before earning a full-time seat in 2013. His standout performances quickly caught the attention of Mercedes, where he stepped into the seat vacated by Nico Rosberg in 2017. Partnering with Lewis Hamilton, Bottas played an instrumental role in securing five consecutive World Constructors" Championships, claiming 10 race wins and finishing as the championship runner-up in both 2019 and 2020.

Following his tenure with Mercedes, Bottas experienced stints with Alfa Romeo and the rebranded Sauber squad before returning briefly to the Silver Arrows as a reserve driver. Known for his technical feedback and unwavering determination on the track, he holds the distinction of having the second most career points without capturing a World Drivers" Championship, accumulating 1,797 points across his illustrious career.

Now embarking on a fresh challenge with Cadillac for the 2026 season, Bottas brings invaluable veteran leadership to the new American-backed operation. As the grid evolves with new regulations and ambitious contenders, the Finnish racer remains a formidable competitor driven by the same quiet tenacity that launched his career in his homeland decades ago.
