Tesla vehicles can now carry out external errands and online tasks hands-free through Grok Bot, marking a major leap in automotive artificial intelligence integration. Announced via social media, the new feature allows drivers to review incoming mail, organize schedules, purchase items online, and navigate complex documents seamlessly while traveling.
This rollout follows hints from a SpaceX AI engineer regarding bringing Grok Bot directly into vehicle cabins, shifting the technology from an experimental web tool into an active assistant. While previous iterations of Grok managed in-car settings like climate control and navigation, Grok Bot introduces advanced task delegation capabilities.

SubscribeDrivers can activate the system by tapping the Grok app, using the steering-wheel microphone button, or saying "Hey Grok" to trigger complex workflows such as coffee orders or calendar management. Early access demonstrations showed the assistant seamlessly coordinating with Full Self-Driving to route vehicles, confirm purchases, and process digital checkouts upon arrival.
Accessing these external services requires secure integrations called Connectors linked to third-party tools like Gmail and Google Calendar. Currently restricted to SuperGrok Heavy subscribers, Tesla plans to expand availability to additional tiers in future rollouts alongside upcoming text messaging and enhanced chauffeur-like FSD integrations.
