Valtteri Bottas secured his maiden Formula One victory at the 2017 Russian Grand Prix on Sunday, driving a brilliant race for Mercedes to hold off Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel by just 0.617 seconds at the Sochi Autodrom.
"It took quite a while, more than four years, but it was definitely worth the wait and I am absolutely thrilled," said Bottas after clinching his first career win in the championship.

Vettel tried every tactical maneuver during the 52-lap race, including a late-race charge in the final stint, but was ultimately thwarted by lapped traffic as he settled for a close second place.
Fernando Alonso Suffers Engine Failure Before Start
Kimi Raikkonen completed the podium in third for Ferrari, setting the fastest lap of the race along the way, while Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton struggled with overheating issues throughout the afternoon and finished a distant fourth.
Despite missing out on the race win, Vettel extended his lead at the top of the World Drivers" Championship standings over Hamilton, while Mercedes narrowly maintained their constructor advantage over Ferrari.
Fernando Alonso's weekend ended in bitter disappointment before the race even began, as his McLaren broke down on the formation lap due to an electronic power unit failure.
"We had issues with the energy recovery system from the very beginning, and it became clear we could not even make the grid without causing major damage," explained team sources regarding the retirement.
