Kyle Larson delivered an impressive recovery drive at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the South Point 400, turning early mechanical trouble into a vital second-place finish. Facing an early setback when a right-front wheel issue cost him a lap and dropped him deep in the field, the Hendrick Motorsports star steadily clawed his way back.
"I'm plus 40, but I also look at it, like, dang, if we could have just fired off, you know, more in the ballpark, we could have had another 10 points minimum," Larson reflected after capturing his third second-place finish of the season.

SubscribeThe pivotal moment of his race arrived during the first caution period on lap 49, allowing him to take the wave-around and regain his lost lap. From there, Larson systematically worked his way through traffic, breaking into the top ten by the end of the second stage and surging toward the front in the closing laps.
On the final lap, a thrilling battle unfolded as Larson chased down race leader Chase Briscoe. In a dramatic final charge out of turn four, Larson made heavy contact with the wall before bouncing into Tyler Reddick, ultimately crossing the finish line in second place.
Penske Breakthrough and Reddick Battles On
With this performance, Larson maintained his impressive consistency as the 10-race Chase reaches its halfway point, boasting an exceptional average finish and extending his lead over Denny Hamlin in the championship standings.
Team Penske also celebrated a successful outing in Las Vegas, showcasing significant progress on 1.5-mile intermediate speedways where Ford teams faced struggles earlier in the season. Austin Cindric led laps and secured a fourth-place finish, followed closely by Ryan Blaney in fifth and Joey Logano rounding out the top ten.
"We were able to bring two really fast cars two weeks in a row, and we're really starting to execute really well throughout this stretch," noted Cindric, pointing to the team's strong preparation and data collection.
Meanwhile, Tyler Reddick and 23XI Racing encountered further adversity, battling alternator and battery issues throughout the race. Despite the mechanical hurdles, Reddick fought back to finish third, expressing a desire for his team to capitalize fully on their speed.
