CrowdStrike Racing celebrates victory and championship success at Petit Le Mans

CrowdStrike Racing by APR clinched the LMP2 class victory and the coveted IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship title after surviving a chaotic, grueling 10-hour Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

The journey for drivers George Kurtz, Alex Quinn, and Toby Sowery in the #04 ORECA LMP2 07 was anything but straightforward, featuring early penalties, a lap deficit, and heavy contact with championship rivals that required a rapid rear-clip change.

"The whole race, not just that incident, was pretty chaotic," Quinn reflected on the challenging start that tested the team's resilience under intense pressure from the rest of the competitive grid.

Despite the early setbacks, flawless execution by the pit crew and strategic brilliance kept the team in contention, setting the stage for a dramatic climax in the closing laps of the season finale.

Slick-Tire Gamble and Historic Milestone

The turning point of the race arrived when rain blanketed the 2.54-mile circuit, prompting a high-stakes gamble to keep Toby Sowery out on slick tires while rival competitors pitted for wet weather alternatives.

"It was about a 50/50 call, could have gone one way or the other, but I think we gave the brave choice today and that paid off for us," Sowery explained regarding his masterclass stint on the drying track.

In the final moments of the race, Quinn held off a hard-charging Tom Dillmann by a razor-thin 0.666 seconds to cross the finish line first and secure the championship sweep for the team.

The victory crowned George Kurtz as the first repeat winner of the IMSA Jim Trueman Award, sealing a historic milestone and an unforgettable championship finish for the entire CrowdStrike lineup.
