The 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland delivers surprising straight-line performance despite its rugged exterior cladding, all-terrain tires, and adventure-focused marketing. During recent testing, the midsize electric SUV sprinted from 0 to 60 mph in a blistering 4.0 seconds flat, outperforming Toyota's own estimates by a healthy margin.

Beneath the aggressive black wheel well cladding and standard roof rack lies a surprisingly agile daily driver. The Premium AWD model's Dunlop Grandtrek A/T 30T tires and stretched wheelbase help cushion road imperfections, delivering a smooth ride that avoids the wallowing tendencies common in heavier utility vehicles.

However, the adventure-themed EV stumbles when it comes to long-distance highway travel. In a steady 70-mph road trip range test, the bZ Woodland managed just 201 miles on a single charge, falling well short of its advertised 260-mile EPA estimate.

Charging performance also remains an area where Toyota trails leading competitors. While the native NACS port allows seamless access to Tesla Supercharger stations, replenishing the 74.7-kWh battery from 10 to 80 percent still requires roughly 30 minutes under optimal conditions.

Spacious Cabin and Off-Road Aspirations

Inside the cabin, the bZ Woodland shines with exceptional passenger comfort and cargo capacity. The extended wheelbase translates to ample legroom in both rows, while a fixed glass roof enhances the airy atmosphere of the interior.

Pop open the rear liftgate, and the extended cargo floor opens up to 33.8 cubic feet of space, expanding to 74.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. This generous volume easily accommodates bulky luggage and gear for weekend getaways.

Toyota equipped the vehicle with an 8.4-inch ground clearance, an X-Mode traction management system, and an optional Adventure Tow Package capable of pulling up to 3,500 pounds. While these features suit light trail running and hauling, buyers seeking hardcore off-road capabilities may still prefer alternatives like the Rivian R2.

Priced starting just under $47,000 and topping out around $50,000 for the loaded Premium trim, the bZ Woodland offers strong value for buyers prioritizing interior space and comfort, provided they do not mind frequent stops at public charging stations.
