The race got off to a dramatic start on the opening lap when Hamilton and title rival Sebastian Vettel collided, sending the Ferrari driver spinning off the track and forcing him into an early recovery drive from the back of the field.

However, degrading tyres and Hamilton's relentless pace ultimately allowed the reigning world champion to seize the lead in the closing stages.
Behind the leading pair, Valtteri Bottas secured the final step of the podium for Mercedes after a solid drive, while Vettel fought back valiantly to salvage a fourth-place finish. Max Verstappen crossed the line fifth but received a five-second time penalty for forcing Bottas off the track.
The dramatic victory allowed Hamilton to extend his lead in the Drivers" Championship standings over Vettel to 17 points, while Mercedes strengthened their position at the summit of the Constructors" Championship.
