Wilfried Gnonto has admitted he is delighted to be back in Serie A after bringing the curtain down on four rollercoaster seasons with Leeds United. The 22-year-old winger departed Elland Road on transfer deadline day to join Fiorentina on an initial loan deal containing a permanent 21 million euro option.
Reflecting on his time in West Yorkshire, where he contributed 40 goal involvements across 147 appearances, the Italy international acknowledged that his spell in England helped him mature both as a player and as a person. However, he candidly noted that the lifestyle in the north of England never truly felt like home.

The young forward also pointed out distinctions in footballing approaches, noting that Italian training sessions under coach Vanoli focus intensely on gameplay and tactical sharpness. He believes the rigorous physical preparation is already paying dividends for his development at La Viola.
Embracing a Fresh Challenge in Florence
While Leeds manager Daniel Farke expressed deep sadness over his departure, reports indicate that the club has effectively closed the door on a future return for the player. Leeds secured Jean-Matteo Bahoya as part of their attacking transition following Gnonto's exit.
As Gnonto settles into life in Florence, he remains optimistic about his future in Serie A. With regular minutes and a familiar cultural backdrop, the forward is eager to prove his worth and take his game to the next level.
