Eduardo Camavinga has opened up about his challenging spell at Real Madrid, offering a candid assessment of his dip in performance over recent seasons. The French midfielder acknowledged that he has fallen short of his peak standards, particularly following a difficult campaign last year that included a costly red card in the Champions League knockout stages against Bayern Munich.
Speaking to the press while on international duty with France, Camavinga admitted that missing out on the World Cup deeply impacted his mindset. "Missing the World Cup affected me. This kind of disappointment was something new for me, but the most important thing is to get back up," the young midfielder shared during the conference.

SubscribeReflecting on his trajectory since arriving in Spain five years ago, Camavinga recognized the rapid pace of his early career development. "Since the beginning of my career, everything has happened very quickly, but Rome wasn't built in a day and I still have plenty of time ahead of me," he noted, highlighting his commitment to personal and professional growth.
Looking forward, the midfielder emphasized the specific areas he needs to refine to secure his place at the club level. "I need to be more focused on the pitch and make fewer mistakes… I need more consistency. I have had some good performances, but I need to be more consistent," Camavinga stated firmly.
Working Under Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane
Having opted to stay at Real Madrid despite summer transfer speculation, Camavinga is now eager to prove his worth under new club manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese coach has gradually integrated the midfielder into the squad, giving him a renewed platform to regain his best form and confidence.
In addition to his club responsibilities, Camavinga is also benefiting from the guidance of France national team manager Zinedine Zidane. Working with two legendary tactical minds is viewed as a pivotal opportunity for the midfielder to elevate his game for both club and country.
"I just want him to give me confidence. It is very special to work under him because everyone knows what Zidane means in this country," Camavinga said regarding his relationship with the French football icon.
With strong backing from both Mourinho and Zidane, the talented midfielder remains focused on cutting out mistakes and establishing himself as an indispensable pillar in midfield as the demanding season progresses.
