Valtteri Bottas secured a brilliant victory at the 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku on Sunday, holding off fierce pressure from Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to reclaim the championship lead. Bottas converted his pole position into a masterclass performance on the challenging Baku City Circuit, managing his tires and pace expertly throughout the 51-lap race.
"Lewis challenged me hard from the very start into the first few corners, but we kept it clean and managed to build a strong race from there," said Bottas after securing his fifth career victory. Mercedes dominated the weekend from start to finish, capping off another stellar team performance with their fourth consecutive one-two finish of the season.
