Her exceptional contributions to horticulture were formally recognized in 1973 when she received the prestigious Victoria Medal of Honour from the Royal Horticultural Society. This accolade cemented her status as a towering icon in the global botanical and floral community.
Legacy and Final Years of Lady Seton
Julia Clements remained exceptionally active in floral art and horticulture well into advanced age, demonstrating an enduring passion for her craft. In 2009, at the remarkable age of 103, she served as the guest of honour at the Festival of Flowers held at Westminster Abbey.
The grand event at Westminster Abbey celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies, paying tribute to a pioneer who helped shape the organization and the art form itself.
Tragically, just a year later on November 1, 2010, Clements passed away from heart failure at a nursing home located in Battersea, London, at the age of 104.
Her extensive bibliography, which includes classics like Fun with Flowers and My Life with Flowers, along with her numerous honors including the OBE, ensures that her legacy as a master of floral design endures permanently.
